A CURIOUS MYSTERIOUS WHIMSICAL VICTORIAN TALE

I got this book as an ARC from the publisher: these freebies are welcome but they don't always turn out to be my cup of tea. However,  A Curious Beginning, was a pleasant surprise!

It's a fun, historical, adventure-mystery with a splash of whimsy.. Set in Victorian times with a wonderful mix of characters, I find myself smitten with Stoker, admiring Veronica and longing to share tea with Lady Cordelia. Of course, there is the usual lot of bad guys, but it's challenging to pick out who is a helper (or a hinderer). 
The end was perfectly unexpected! It definitely could set us up for more adventures with Veronica and Stoker (and hopefully bulldog Huxley), but we'll just have to wait and see!

Until then, I'll be reading a book and nibbling on humbugs in the library at Bishop's Folly.



But watch out for butterfly nets, traveling circus shows, taxidermied elephants and glimpses of royalty!

    The author's sequel is due out soon! I entered a Goodreads.com give-away. Wish me luck. It really was a fun book(exciting without too much stress or trauma--a.k.a. NOT Game of Thrones). But it wasn't a dumbed-down beach read either. Can't wait for the second installment!
